Peak Bikes acquires Ubyk assets and plans expansion

The fate of cycle retailer Ubyk has been settled with the purchase of its assets and website from the liquidators by Peak Bikes.

At the end of last year, reports emerged of trading troubles at Ubyk, including on the Singletrack forum, and Peak Bikes told CyclingIndustry.News it was looking to acquire the assets.

Now Peak Bikes has confirmed it has purchased Ubyk’s assets, brand and website from the liquidators. Peak Bikes is looking to occupy the stores Ubyk previously held and continue to use the Ubyk brand.

Managing Director Peter Currey told CyclingIndustry.News: “As you’ll be aware, Ubyk Limited ceased trading and entered in to liquidation towards the back end of 2018.

“Peak Bikes were approached to see if we had an interest in the assets and website which Ubyk Limited once owned.

“Following various negotiations, Peak Bikes was able to purchase the assets, brand and website from the liquidator. We are also looking to occupy the two stores that Ubyk previously occupied as a new tenant. These stores and the website and now under operation of Peak Bikes and our own team but we will continue to use the Ubyk branding as Peak Bikes has its own website and branding. The new venture will now mean we have a store in Chesterfield, Oxford and Brighton.

“Having the Ubyk websites, also gives us an online presence in The UK, The USA, Australia, France, Spain, Sweden & Denmark.

“There are plans in the pipe line for additional retail stores both within The UK & Internationally.

“Peak Bikes and our team look forward to what the future holds, and we’re excited to drive both the Peak Bikes and Ubyk brand forward.”
