Brompton teams up with Endura to launch city clothing collection
Brompton has launched its debut cycling apparel collection, designed and developed with Endura, for city cyclists.
The autumn/winter range consists of six pieces, including a waterproof jacket, packable windproof layer and reversible gilet, with ‘not a piece of Lycra in sight.’ Also included are windproof glove, Coolmax Socks and Multitude.
The products are named after Europe’s great cycling cities, and home to a number of Brompton Junction locations (Look out for more on this in the next issue of CI.N’s print magazine). The collection will be available from the brand’s website and Brompton Junction London stores, situated in Covent Garden and Westfield in Shepherds Bush, with a wider global release planned in September.
Kenny Kelly, Brompton Design and Development Manager, said of the range: “By focusing on the real needs of city riders we’ve created a range that helps riders feel comfortable and look great both on and off the bike, and in doing so help change the way people experience cities.
“In Endura we found a fantastic partner with a stellar reputation, bags of experience in developing and producing great riding gear, and an ethos that mirrors our approach at Brompton.”
The London Waterproof Jacket, complete with reflective panels, is constructed with fully taped seams, breathable material and underarm vents to keep riders dry and prevent overheating. Meanwhile, the Barcelona Windproof Packable Jacket is the ‘all-rounder’ of the collection, being waterproof, lightweight and able to be packed down into the chest pocket.
The New York Insulated Reversible Gilet features lightweight insulation for warmth while retaining breathability, and can be packed down to a compact size when it isn’t needed. The London Windproof Glove keeps the chill of winter out with its windproof membrane, while the touchscreen-friendly silicone palm print provides extra grip.
Brompton’s Barcelona Coolmax Socks are designed using a moisture-wicking coolmax yarn, with stripes featuring reflective fibres to provide an extra level of visibility. Finally, the New York Multitude, made from natural merino fibres, can be used as a neck warmer, face mask, headband and beanie hat.
Endura Brand Director, Pamela Barclay, added: “The ‘Brompton powered by Endura’ collection has turned out some really pukka premium riding kit – contemporary classics that are minimalist and yet loaded with discrete features that move effortlessly from the street to the office – just like the Brompton bikes.
“Brompton had a very clear vision of what they were looking to achieve and Endura wree able to bring that to life both aesthetically and technically.”
