Focus Bicycles founder Mike Kluge expands his role at Derby-owned label

Focus Bicycles founder Mike Kluge has taken on a newly expanded role, adding brand development to his current consultancy and ambassador duties with the Derby-owned brand.

“Mike Kluge lives and breathes Focus, and he epitomises everything that makes up the brand’s DNA. So he is key to our strategy of continuously developing Focus into one of the global top-performance brands,” stated Thomas Raith, Chairman of the Board at Derby Cycle.

Though the former cyclocross world champion sold the brand to Derby Cycles back in 1999, he has remained a key component of the team, coming back into the fold in 2013 as a consultant.

Kluge said of his renewed involvement: “It’s something very close to my heart to continue developing ‘my’ brand. Focus has done incredibly well as a brand in recent years. The big successes of the French professional team AG2R La Mondiale riding Focus, but equally the many wins achieved by the professional off-road team, demonstrate impressively that the brand with its innovative top-quality products is well on the way to becoming the best in the world.”
