Giant and Liv issues recall on some 2021 model year bikes

Giant and Liv have issued a recall on selected model year 2021 bikes, namely the Giant Cypress DX, Giant Escape 3 Comfort, Liv Flourish FS 1 and Liv Alight 3 Comfort.

These models are affected by a handlebar loosening issue that, thus far, has been linked to 86 reports, some of which have resulted in a crash for the rider.

These Philippines made models were sold via authorized Giant Bicycle dealers and online at www.giant-bicycles.com/us, or www.liv-cycling.com/us from October 2020 through October 2021 for between $590 and $690.

Those Giant and Liv cycles affected by the recall will be branded with the letter “P” on the underside of the bottom bracket shell.

Consumers with an affected model are encouraged to cease riding the bike and contact their local Giant dealer. A free inspection will then be scheduled with replacement made if necessary. Dealers may contact Giant’s Recall team by email here with enquiries.

CyclingIndustry.News next print magazine will carry an article aimed at manufacturers that will carry the expertise of an expert recalls lawyer, who will explain the process and actions required in the event of a product safety concern arising.
