“Incredibly sad day”: Spoon Group inc WyndyMilla enters liquidation
Spoon Group Ltd, owner-operator of Spoon Customs, WyndyMilla, and Gun Control Custom Paint, has announced that it has instructed FRP Advisory Trading to place the company into liquidation. This decision comes after extensive efforts to navigate challenging market conditions, the group said.
Spoon Group Ltd is recognised for designing and producing high-specification bespoke handmade bicycles of high standards under its Spoon Customs, WyndyMilla and Gun Control Custom Paint brands. Despite significant cost-saving measures, including closing its premises at Unit 2 in the Surrey Hills and adopting a leaner operational model, rising costs and strained cash flow have placed unsustainable pressure on the business.
Commenting on the decision, Andy Carr, Spoon Group Ltd Director, said: “This is an incredibly sad day for everyone involved. Spoon and its brands have earned loyal support over the years, becoming known for championing better fit and the highest standards of fabrication and finishing. Despite concerted and sustained efforts to adapt to challenging market conditions, the business has found itself in an impossible position.
“In a market where demand has dropped significantly and costs have risen, the decision to enter liquidation was necessary to address these challenges, though it is wholly regrettable. We remain committed to supporting the liquidation process during this difficult time.
“This decision will of course impact our customers. I deeply regret the challenges this situation may cause for everyone affected. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this process.”

Spoon Group is among a fairly large list of bicycle industry companies that have closed in challenging trading conditions. That list includes consumer names that have been rescued including ProBikeKit and WiggleCRC, as well as long established trade names that have permanently closed, including Moore Large, Hotlines, i-ride and others. Covid lockdown-related factors including industry overstocks, as well as consumers struggling with spending cash, have been among the factors behind the swathe of closures.
