Ortlieb re-org bolsters sales efforts in UK & USA, adds new head of Germany sales
Both the sales team at national level and the team that takes care of the 40-plus export countries at ORTLIEB Sportartikel GmbH have undergone a process of expansion and change.
The new recruit for distribution in Germany is Robert Spittler, who took over the vacant role of Sales Manager for Germany from February 2023. Born in the North Bavarian region of Germany, he was last employed with the Pierer Mobility Group. Managing Director of the experts for waterproof backpacks and bike panniers, Martin Esslinger, said: “In Robert we have been able to recruit a genuine reinforcement for our sales team. With his experience in and knowledge of the sector, he will be able to help us in our core market and provide a proficient point of contact for our customers.”
Meanwhile, Steffen Ulrich – who has been with the company since 2016 – took on the newly created position of Country Manager for the markets of North America and the UK earlier this year.
CEO Esslinger explained: “Both the North American markets, above all the USA, where we have our own subsidiary with ORTLIEB USA LLC, and the markets in the UK, with a focus on England, are key targets for us. The change in structure was necessary in order to do justice to the relevance of these markets. We are delighted that we have been able to fill the new post internally with Steffen.”
Like Steffen Ulrich, Robert Spittler reports to Heike Borchardt, Head of Sales Export and Inside Sales.
Ortlieb is distributed by Lyon Equipment into the UK and Ireland, with the aforementioned Ortlieb USA serving that North American market and Ortlieb HQ dealing with Germany.
