Specialized to trial Click and Collect in UK

Specialized has begun a trial of Click and Collect functionality via Specialized.com within the UK market.

Initially launching with its partners in the Specialized Concept Stores in order to test within a controlled environment, the trial period of Click and Collect will allow consumers to order both bikes and equipment from Specialized.com and upon checkout, select their local retailer so that they can collect their order.

“The launch of Click and Collect into the UK is the second phase of our Integrated Marketplace project, which started with the launch of our ‘Find Nearby’ feature on Speciaized.com earlier this year,” said Ian Carter, UK Ecommerce Manager. “As we seek to better align our digital channels with physical retail, projects such as Click and Collect are key to us serving and ultimately, converting riders by removing existing barriers to purchase.”

Simon Homer, Specialized UK Managing Director, added: “With the UK such an advanced marker when it comes to the digital landscape, it is essential that we are helping to drive riders to our retailers with digital solutions. With a raft of highly in-demand product such as the Turbo Levo, Stumpjumper, Venge and Shiv all launched within the last six months, we are confident our Click and Collect programme, combined with our impactful marketing campaigns, will drive new customers to our retailers.”

Once the trial period has concluded, the Click and Collect programme will be rolled out the rest of the Specialized retail partners within the UK.

The UK has seen a rapid rise in popularity of Click and Collect. The sales channel is expected to account for 14% of total online spend by 2022.
