Vittoria2Go offers tyres on a subscription for fleet operators

Cycling tyre label Vittoria will launch Vittoria2Go, a new “tyres as a service” option for bicycle leasing and rental companies.

Announced on the company’s LinkedIn, the B2B subscription service will operate via a rolling monthly payment that is designed to help businesses to “participate in an innovative and sustainable ecosystem, control their costs by outsourcing the operational risk and manage subscription and claims from a centralized portal.”

The subscription service builds in supply, replacement, maintenance, theft and vandalism insurance and an end of life tyre recycling scheme that promotes responsible disposal.

What’s more, printed on the tyre’s sidewall will be a QR Code that is designed to log the tyre’s life cycle, thus giving the operator insights into tyre performance and maintenance schedules.

An early Vittoria2Go partnership has been formed with bicycle rental giant Swapfiets of the Netherlands, which has opted to adorn their bikes with Vittoria’s Adventure Tech tyres, made with a graphene-enhanced compound that is said to deliver increased wet grip and durability.

Marc de Vries, Swapfiets’ CEO said of the link up: “Swapfiets’ success proves that a ‘pay for use’ subscription model is attractive to customers and means better quality products that last. We hope this revolutionary idea will create a ripple effect, influencing the cycling industry and helping us on our journey to create 100% circular bikes by 2025.”

Other clients include Dance, a Berlin-based subscription business brought to life last year with a €15 million raise.

Vittoria Group President and CEO, Stijn Vriends, added: “Subscription and circularity are new concepts to the bicycle tyre industry. We are thus very pleased that with our Vittoria2GO service we can make a start in a more sustainable use of our products.”
