Cercacor debuts non-invasive hemoglobin tracker for endurance athletes

Cercacor has come to market with what it says is the first “non-invasive hemoglobin tracker for endurance athletes.”

Set to become available later this year, the Masimo-backed Ember device comes pre-loaded with 200 hemoglobin measurement tests. For those unaware of Masimo, the business is one of the world’s largest medical technology labels for non-invasive patient monitoring.

Taking measurements simply by placing the athlete’s finger in a reader, the device will track and trend progress over time, providing data to assist with informed decisions on further training.

Using an advanced, 8 LED sensor and a device paired with any smartphone, the Ember will deliver readings in around 30 seconds, minus the requirement for blood or lab tests.

Additional hemoglobin measurements can be purchased in increments of 25, 50, 100 for $1 per measurement from the App Store. Pulse rate can be tested unlimited times at no cost.
