Decathlon to open six new branches by close of 2017

Outdoor retail chain Decathlon is to open six new branches by the close of 2017.

Currently operating 32 branches, the six openings will concentrate on the capital and the South, with openings scheduled for Uxbridge, High Wycombe, Brent Cross, Beckton, Guildford and Kensington High Street.

The business has targeted aggressive growth around the globe, notably entering the Australian market in a big way earlier on in 2017. As many as 100 branches are speculated to be on the French firm’s plans for the Eastern market.

Increasingly big on bike sales, Decathlon has invested heavily in own-brand bikes under the B’Twin banner, as well as adding a handful of other industry brands in store. Most branches also now carry a well-stocked workshop handling bike maintenance.

Decathlon now operates in over 30 countries.
