COREbike product highlights, part two: Forme, Orro, Unior and Camelbak
Following on from our part one round up of key lines from COREbike, here’s a handful of product highlights that may be worth consideration for your store in the season ahead…
New from Forme Bikes
Supplier: Moore Large
01332 274252
Brand new to the house-developed Forme range, the Peak Trail Pro E and ELS turned heads with a contrast of a silver finish and plus-sized slicks, specced for the UK roads. The bikes come powered by a 500wh battery, which, depending on usage, allows for up to a 65-mile assisted range.
Meanwhile, the off road market similarly gains what is essentially a new model in the renamed Shottle Pro (Moore Large explained that the previous model of this bike was called the Black Rocks Pro FSE. From now on, Black Rocks will indicate hardtail, whereas Shottle will indicate full suspension.)
Now specced with the new RockShox Zeb Ultimate forks and a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate rear shock, the high-spec Shottle Pro is well suited to all mountain adventure.
The popular Lathkill has seen a notable upgrade too, boosting its battery size to 625Wh from 500Wh, an upgrade carried through on the aforementioned full-suspension addition.
Always one to pay homage to the testing ground on which the prototypes are put through the wringer, Moore Large has added to all new bikes a small map marker and map coordinates that reference the place in the Peak District that each bike derives its name from.
Orro goes E
Supplier: i-Ride
01444 243 000
Having held off so far, those returning to COREbike were greeted immediately on i-Ride’s booth by the launch of the Terra E electric bike; soon to be sold in a drop or flat bar version.
One of an increasing number to turn to FSA’s hub motor system, the Terra E is set to open up the electric gravel bike space wider with a £3,799 price point and the ability to spec a range extender to add to the standard 250Wh battery tucked into the downtube.
At 13kg, it’s sprightly and well specced for the price point, basing its frame design on the non pedal assist Terra. That means your customer is gaining a carbon frame and fork sculpted in such a way there’s little difference to the eye on first glance.
Five different assistance levels can be set by a top-tube mounted button that controls an up to 42Nm delivery of torque through the rear wheel seamlessly with the rider’s cadence. The additional battery option is mounted in the bottle cage.
Unior hits the sweet spot for workshop focused businesses
Supplier: ZyroFisher
01325 741202
The pronounced movement by many businesses towards workshop investment has been heard loud and clear by Unior and the range reflects options geared at professional workshop only businesses and mobile mechanics needing flexibility too.
Now a distinct red colour, the outing was the first with Zyro on the back of a December 2021 deal that has since seen the firm’s own Darlington headquarters become an Activate Cycle Academy training facility for mechanics, naturally all of whom will be using the brand’s goods.
For those on the move, the Unior range has broadened to deliver a range of cases and bags well equipped and laid out to accommodate slick service. Mobile mechanic’s, we’re told, can be up and running with a ProKit for £1,700, within which there’s the vast majority of tools required to service even the most tricky of customer bikes.
Static units for decking out a physical premises can be ordered to fit your workshop with a range of width options available, each clad (as the picture shows) to keep tools in the right place. Alongside the cabinets seen at Core was the firm’s first foray into a hydraulic lift, now available at £2,800 and the perfect assistant to repetitive lifting of heavy bikes and electric bikes. The lift is activated with a handy key fob remote.
Complementing this, Unior also produces an extensive range of consumer-facing tools that come in packaging ready for slatwall. For those customers wanting to carry out basic tasks themselves Unior even has a £275 Home Kit, with each of these tools carrying the same lifetime guarantee as the professional lines.
Camelbak keeping it cool
Supplier: ZyroFisher
01325 741202
Plenty to talk about on the Camelbak COREbike booth, but most notable is ZyroFisher’s expansion of the range carried to include the broader outdoor portfolio, something that officially begins on June 1st, but was teased to Core visitors in a comprehensive display.
All-in-all, we’re told an estimated additional 1,000 SKUs will become available, including drinkware for outdoor activity made in both stainless steel and utilising a plastic formula made up of 50% recycled bottles and found under the Triton header. All bottles will come with interchangeable tops – pour, spout and carry clip.
Aside to the bottles line up, most impressive to some visitors was the large volume product additions designed for group hydration as opposed to personal. Soon available will be 10 litre £90 and 6-litre £75 slide top units that are perfect for family days out.
Another standout is the Chillbak 30 at £255. This giant pack is designed to hold as much as 6 kilos of ice, as well as six litres of fluid. Camelbak say it’ll keep the contents cold for 70 hours and the ice frozen for up to 40.
